This project presents an exploratory analysis of the Global Terrorism Database (GTD), encompassing over 200,000 terrorist incidents from 1970 to 2020. By preprocessing and refining the dataset, we examined trends in terrorist activity over time, identified regional hotspots, and analyzed prevalent attack methods. Key findings highlight a surge in global incidents around 2010–2014, with the Middle East, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa experiencing the highest concentrations. Bombings emerged as the dominant attack type, and a moderate positive correlation was observed between fatalities and injuries. The results offer valuable insights into terrorism’s evolving nature, aiding policymakers and researchers in developing informed counterterrorism strategies.
